It is also noticeable for having been written by Dan Slott who would become a writer for Spider-Man comics a few months after the release of the game, and for being the inspiration for his comic book storyline Spider-Verse, which would make the concept of alternate universe and other spider themed heroes an important part of the character's mythology due to introduction of several new characters. The game has a follow-up of sorts, with Spider-Man: Edge of Time.
